Align Your Life With Your Values

Does your life reflect your spiritual values?

Vincent Van Gogh said:
“Principles are only good when they generate acts.”

Let’s take ethics, social justice, human rights, empathy, sustainability, and conservation, for instance, how do these values square with your job, home, commute, family, or network? Double-check and align your life with your values!

ETHICS: do you do what’s right even when no one is watching?

SOCIAL JUSTICE AND HUMAN RIGHTS: how do you react when you see injustice? Do you node in disbelief or speak up?

Albert Einstein said:
“The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing.”

SUSTAINABILITY: are you making changes and striving to live sustainably?

CONSERVATION: what’s your role in it? What are you saving, preserving, preventing, or cleaning?

How do you apply your values in various environments?

WORKPLACE

Align Your Life With Your Values

If you were video-recorded while at work, would the observer know what your values are?

HOME

Align Your Life With Your Values

If someone took a tour of your home, would they know that you are striving to live sustainably?

COMMUTE

Align Your Life With Your Values

Commuting and traveling have a destructive environmental impact. What are you doing to minimize yours? Are you carpooling, biking, or taking public transportation? Did you give a thought to your long-distance travel? Amazingly, airplane emissions – unlike those of any car – are NOT regulated! The least environmentally-damaging mode of long-distance travel is the train. Give it a thought.

FAMILY

Align Your Life With Your Values

Did you ever think that every human being, a spouse, a parent, or a child – apart from their role in your family – is an individual who expects to be acknowledged? We all need to be valued as individuals and appreciated for our contributions. Are you the one who empowers and nurtures your loved ones or exhausts their batteries?

NETWORK

Align Your Life With Your Values

Who are the people you surround yourself with? Do they share your values? Are they inspiring and supportive? Are they ethical and loyal? Are they empathetic?

Are they buddies to share a good time with or people you can talk to about anything? Are you doing meaningful things with them? Volunteering, organizing, or learning new skills? Do they aspire to lower their carbon footprint, conserve and restore the natural environment?

You are only as good as your network. Should the world come to a sudden stop, can you lean on your network? If so, congratulations! If not, start building a better network, today!

Align your life with your values! Spirituality isn’t the stuff you profess in public. Spirituality is living by the values you profess; every day, when you are with others, and when you are alone.

Align Your Life With Your Values

Inner strength and harmony are the rewards of PRACTICING spirituality.
