Celebrate The Holidays

Celebrate the Holidays to nourish family bonds! You may have outgrown the beliefs of your youth. Don’t reject your progress, but honor your family first. Ideologies fade. Family love is forever.

Chances are that none of us was born a humanist, let alone a holist. That’s who we choose to become.

Most of us were raised in some religion, and it is – among other things – the religion and traditions we grew up with that connect us with our loved ones.

Several major religions observe important holidays in December. You may have outgrown the beliefs of your youth. I’m not encouraging anyone to follow a theistic religion. I am, however, urging you to celebrate your family.

Holidays are not the time to focus on differences or grudges but on common denominators, feelings, and shared memories. Any ideology that stands between you and your family is harmful. No belief system or charismatic leader can replace a family’s love. No one will ever love you unconditionally, as your family does. Value it. Honor it. Celebrate it.

Life plays tricks on us. Many things we believe in are passing trends or outright falsehoods. Family love is genuine and lasting despite our differences. Show your appreciation and joy during the December holidays.

Remember: it’s values that matter, not the label under which they are taught or demonstrated.

And in this spirit, I wish you:

Merry Christmas!
Happy Hannukah!
Happy Kwanzaa!
